After being elected by the students of Brock in February, Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU) 2024/25 Board of Directors kicked off the year with a day of Training on May 22.
BUSU is a non-profit organization separate to Brock that’s mission is to provide the best student experience possible (read more about BUSU here). The organization is overseen by a Board of 13 elected students, as well as the BUSU student President and General Manager, who are non-voting members.
Training day provided Board members with a comprehensive knowledge of BUSU’s finances, services and programming. The day also included an interactive session by a renowned governance consultant on the responsibilities of Board members, and an overview of the Board’s legal obligations from a representative from BUSU’s law firm. They will also receive risk training from BUSU’s insurance company.
Board members left the day with valuable professional experience, and a better understanding of their roles as Board members and their responsibilities to the undergraduate students at Brock.

BUSU Board meetings take place monthly and can be viewed via BUSU’s YouTube channel. The first meeting of the 2024/25 Board of Directors will take place June 24, 2024.
