Hello Badgers, My name is Shreya Patel, and I am a second year Accounting Co-op student .
I am excited to nominate myself for the BUSU Board of Directors. This opportunity is a meaningful way for me to provide support from my learnings at Brock. The Brock community has been the backbone of my journey so far by giving me great experiences and developing my skills to flourish as an individual. My goal is to create more opportunities for new Badgers by encouraging greater student involvement and engagement.
As an international student from Botswana, I underNominate the challenges and opportunities that come with studying at Brock, and I am committed to ensuring that all students feel Supported, Included, and Empowered. I still cannot believe that it has been a year since I joined Brock. This University has not only become a place I call home but has also become a part of my family, as I have had the opportunity to meet a diverse community of people from various ethnicities and backgrounds.
One of the experiences I have truly enjoyed and loved is volunteering with Brock International, it has allowed me to connect with students from different parts of the world, each with unique beliefs and cultures. This experience has been incredibly rewarding and has strengthened my passion for fostering greater representation of visible minorities while promoting engagement within the Brock community.
I am passionate about advocating for greater mental health support for Brock students, ensuring they feel guided and encouraged as they take their leap of faith into a new chapter of their lives. My goal is to encourage an affirmative mindset with the student community, spreading and adapting the message that 'We' the students are supported at every step of the way. If given the opportunity to be elected, I would be committed to continuing this mission by creating more opportunities for visible minorities and ensuring that all students feel empowered and included in the Brock community.
