Nicholas Doran

Hi! My name is Nick Doran and I am a third year Concurrent Education student (Junior Intermediate), with a teachable in English. Since my first year I have been drawn to BUSU, particularly around the leadership role they take within our student body. I have always been a big advocate for student voices and the need for support along one's educational Journey. The wide variety of services BUSU provides, truly gives students an opportunity to meet new people and try new things. One of these opportunities is being part of one of these incredible committees, in which we can use our voice to enact change within our school.

I had the privilege of being apart of the Clubs Advisory committee last year and feel as though we did a great job of allocating funding and making decisions that benefitted the greater student population. This being said I truly feel that there is always room for improvement. I believe this committee could benefit from both new and returning members to create an impactful dynamic for decision making. One that pulls on experience, as well as fresh insight.  If elected, I plan to vote for decisions that pursue events and ideas that encourage greater student participation. I believe that funding should be carefully spent towards club ideas that engage students in new and creative ways. Additionally, I would like to help see that events promoting representation for groups and communities at Brock, have the appropriate support to give incoming and returning students the space and time needed to thrive.

I would like to take an additional step out of my comfort zone by running for the Vice President University Affairs Advisory committee, which would be a new experience for me. I feel as though my time in leadership roles throughout high school, clubs and my time in the Clubs Advisory committee, will aid me in advocating efficiently for the students at Brock. I would like to take part in this opportunity, to grow my own skills and represent the student voice in decisions made within this committee.

I would be honored to be a part of any of the committees BUSU has to offer and I thank you for your time reading a bit about me! I hope to engage with many of you throughout our years at Brock!
