Sophia Carnovale

Shé:kon, Sophia Carnovale niyonkyats. Wakathahyon:ni, kanyen:kehá:ka niwakonhwentsyo:ten. Ohswe:ken nitewake:non. Hi, my name is Sophia Carnovale. I am Mohawk Nation, Wolf Clan from Six Nations of the Grand River.

As a 3rd-year Medical Sciences student pursuing a minor in Indigenous Studies, I am deeply committed to advocating for the rights of specifically Indigenous people and communities within the academic environment and beyond. My education has provided me with a strong foundation in both scientific inquiry and the various contemporary issues facing First Nations, Métis, and Inuit. I am passionate about bridging these fields to contribute meaningfully to their well-being.

Professionally, I am both the Indigenization Strategy Intern at Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance and Pow Wow Assistant (& Peer Assistant) for Hadiya'dagénhahs First Nations, Métis and Inuit Student Centre. Through my current positions, you can see just how committeed I am to making Brock University and other Ontario Universities inclusive and safe for Indigenous Peoples.
